Meet the Pastors

Stephen Schappert
Before coming to Grace Bible Chapel in November of 1992 Pastor Schappert and his family spent 10 years in Ireland as Church Planters with the Greater Europe Mission. Those 10 years of evangelism and church planting were foundational to his present ministry. Pastor Schappert has always considered ministering the Word of God his primary calling. Grace Bible Chapel is firmly based on the Word of God, it gives us guidance in everything we do. Pastor Schappert’s task is to help the congregation see how God’s Word personally applies to them.
Pastor Schappert considers himself a real family oriented Pastor. In fact, being a husband and father of 4 has been one of the great joys of his life. With respect to the future Pastor Steve is expecting great things from God here at GBC. God has led us into our building on Route 274 in Rising Sun, and further expansion is expected in the future. God has clearly given us the go-ahead and we are seeking to become a blessing to our local community in many ways.

Wayne Heffelfinger
Pastor Wayne has been serving here at Grace Bible Chapel since 1989, first as Associate Pastor To Youth (1989-2005) and now as Pastor of Discipleship and Worship.
He received his education at Northeastern Bible College (BA) and Biblical Theological Seminary (MA, MDiv). Pastor Wayne and his wife Beth were married in 1985, and God has blessed them with 4 children: Katy (23), Kara (21), Lisa (deceased), and Adam (17).
Believing that the greatest asset of Grace Bible Chapel is her people, Pastor Wayne longs to see 100% of the church family connected in community through the ministry of small groups. Nurturing and caring Life Groups can provide a great sense of belonging in a world of increasing isolation and independence.
Pastor Wayne also strives to lead the church in corporate worship week after week which flows from the heart and exalts our worthy God.
In his spare time, Pastor Wayne enjoys running – he completed his twelfth marathon this year, the Boston Marathon. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing music, staying in shape, coaching wrestling and baseball, and attending baseball games at all levels.
