They have a son and daughter, Levi and Adelyn. Mike has been an Army scientist since 2007 and his family have been attending GBC since 2014. John Fields - Elder

John Fields

John Fields has been married to his best friend, Heidi, for more than 26 years, and they have been blessed with five wonderful children:  Abbey, Becca, Johnny, Drew, and Ben.

John has worked in Delaware as a Systems Technician at Verizon for just over 25 years while Heidi has had the honor and privilege of home-schooling their kids throughout those years.  John graduated from the University of Delaware in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish. During the summer of 2021, John also completed a Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies Degree from Lancaster Bible College / Capital Seminary.

During his leisure time, John can be found spending time with his family and friends playing sports or board games, but he also enjoys studying the Scriptures, playing golf and tennis with his 3 boys and telling his famous (or “infamous”) dad jokes as well.

John and his family have been attending GBC since the summer of 2007.  He has greatly enjoyed serving in a variety of ways over the years including the leading of the Jr. High Impact ministry since 2009, teaching several adult and children’s Sunday School classes, singing regularly on the Sunday Morning Worship Team, participating in annual VBS Skits and Bible Lessons and even acting as King Xerxes in the Original Musical Esther in 2013.   In addition to his role as an Elder, John currently leads a men’s small group Bible Study at his house and has also had the honor and privilege of occasionally leading the congregation in communion as well as preaching multiple sermons during the Sunday morning services.

In 1991, John was encouraged to read the Bible in order to see if it was true.  It wasn’t long until the conviction of the Holy Spirit led him to fall on his knees in surrender to the Grace and Truth found in Jesus Christ.  Salvation is found in no other Name – Acts 4:12!

Seth and Joanne have served at GBC for nearly 50 years.  Seth has taught for many years in several ministries including Adult Bible Classes, Junior Church and VBS. He currently is serving as an elder.  Joanne has been the church librarian for over 40 years in addition to holding other positions such as Christian Education Director and Sunday School Superintendent.

After six years of increasing conviction from the Holy Spirit, Seth, at the age of 18, surrendered to the lordship of Christ in his life and accepted Him as his Savior and his Lord.  Joanne being raised in a Christian home received Christ at a young age.

Dave Scott - Elder

Dave Scott

Dave Scott grew up in a Christian home where the Bible was not only taught but was applied to daily life – this was ‘normal’ and reinforced by many more role models that Dave has watched over the years. It takes a while to know how blessed you are!

Married for 36 years to Renee, proud dad of three grown men, and enjoying two wonderful grandsons! Renee and Dave live in Cecil County – both have for their entire lives. GBC is the only church Dave has really ever attended. At age 6, revival meetings and fear of being ‘left behind’ was the cause for initially running to Christ with the help of his mother – surrender/lordship came later.

Dave has served in various capacities at GBC, including leading a men’s adult class, serving as a deacon and as a member of the missions committee. He is self-employed in residential remodeling and loves the outdoors and hunting as his father did.
