Our Pastors

Pastor Larry Chute

Larry Chute - Interim Pastor

Pastor Larry and Elaine were married in August of 1969 and began in ministry that same year.  They served in three churches in the Chicago suburbs over the next forty plus years.  They began ministry with IPM (Interim Pastor Ministries) in 2010 and have now served in seven churches in seven different states:  Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, North Dakota, Kansas, and now Maryland.  They find great joy in helping churches walk through an Intentional Process to become stronger between Pastors.

The Chutes have three children (one daughter and two sons), ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild (with another on the way).  There is no greater joy in their lives than to “watch their children walk in the truth!”  Their two sons are serving in evangelical churches.  One is serving as Executive Pastor in a large church in PA and the other as Worship Pastor in a very effective church in MD.

Pastor Larry can be reached via email:  chutelarry@gmail.com.

Pastor Rob started at GBC as a volunteer middle school youth leader in May of 1996. He became the Pastor of Student Ministries, for youth in grades 6-12, in June of 2005 while working towards his master’s degree. He graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a Master of Bible in 2008.

John Fields - Elder

John Fields - Pastor of Adult Ministries

John Fields has been married to his best friend, Heidi, for more than 26 years, and they have been blessed with five wonderful children:  Abbey, Becca, Johnny, Drew, and Ben.

John has worked in Delaware as a Systems Technician at Verizon for just over 25 years while Heidi has had the honor and privilege of home-schooling their kids throughout those years.  John graduated from the University of Delaware in 1991 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish. During the summer of 2021, John also completed a Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies Degree from Lancaster Bible College / Capital Seminary.

During his leisure time, John can be found spending time with his family and friends playing sports or board games, but he also enjoys studying the Scriptures, playing golf and tennis with his 3 boys and telling his famous (or “infamous”) dad jokes as well.

John and his family have been attending GBC since the summer of 2007.  He has greatly enjoyed serving in a variety of ways over the years including the leading of the Jr. High Impact ministry since 2009, teaching several adult and children’s Sunday School classes, singing regularly on the Sunday Morning Worship Team, participating in annual VBS Skits and Bible Lessons and even acting as King Xerxes in the Original Musical Esther in 2013.   In addition to his role as an Elder, John currently leads a men’s small group Bible Study at his house and has also had the honor and privilege of occasionally leading the congregation in communion as well as preaching multiple sermons during the Sunday morning services.

In 1991, John was encouraged to read the Bible in order to see if it was true.  It wasn’t long until the conviction of the Holy Spirit led him to fall on his knees in surrender to the Grace and Truth found in Jesus Christ.  Salvation is found in no other Name – Acts 4:12!
